PENNY WREATH ORNAMENTS, "In God We Trust".

I made sure I glued the pennies "heads up" on paper first, to reflect the "In God We Trust"
engraved on the front.  I painted the pennies green and purposely removed some paint to show that they are pennies, and to me, well it has meaning.

After being robbed of over 25 years of collected ornaments. I decided since I can now use my hands again, to make my own ornaments.  So with that...I just finished this penny wreath. It literally costs but a few cents ( wink wink), a little glue, glitter, sequins or faux bling. You can use paper, material or buttons. Just do it. This is just what I had on hand. No need to explain.
This ornament really does catch lights and reflects colors
nicely.  You can do your own thing adding more or less.
Add a ribbon and voila!

Just be safe using a glue gun. By the way, the pennies are safe and can be used if necessary. Haha, I've got this. Right?
If you make it please post your pics here. I would love to see them. If you like this please share And click yes on the bottom right side of this blog.

Thank you for your visit, and for allowing me to be of service. Many blessings.

Sincerely,

Mary Helen

Another view.  The penny wreath is on the left
My tree is pretty full of ornaments now.  I've made them all except for the few green and
blue balls.

Homemade Hello Kitty Cookie Ornaments

My Homemade Hello Kitty Cookie Ornaments.  I topped it with mica powder for color, red markers, ribbon, and liquid polymer clay.
Got flour?  Here are more cookie ornaments I just finished for a 6 year old second cousin of mine.  She saw my ornaments and asked if I could make her some Hello Kitty ornaments.  I said, "I will try".  I just love children, so of course my aim was to please.
1.  First I found a simple Hello Kitty picture online.  I photo copied
it with my inkjet printer so I can  photo transfer using  liquid
polymer clay.  I brushed the liquid clay on the photo copy
and baked it for 30 minutes in  a designated polymer clay oven.
Once cool, I dipped it in warm water and begin to rub all the
copy paper off as shown.
2.  I made  cookie dough for ornaments.  You can find the recipe on my Cookie
ornament blog here titled "Basic Cookie Dough for Ornaments".
I used a push up ice cream holder as a cookie cutter I had bought at
the dollar store
3.  I baked them in the oven for 5 hours at 225F.  Let cool completely.
4.  I painted the top of the cookie with white acrylic paint I bought at the
dollar store.  If I had white shoe shine polish I would have used it.  I think
that would have worked as well.) I let it dry before I attached the cut
polymer image with glue.  Haha,  Can you tell I am very frugal?
5.  I brushed the edges with mica colored powders and liquid
polymer clay to bond the image and colored powder edges.
( FYI, mica powder is like powder eye shadow.  So powder
eye shadow would work fine too:))
I added the eyes and nose, and baked it again for 30 minutes.
Once cooled, I sprayed the ornament with lacquer.
6.  I hand painted the ribbon on Kitty's head with a red permanent marker.  I
attached ribbon around the cookie and made a loop to hang.  I used a glue
gun for this.
I thought I'd share another homemade idea for you to have fun with either by yourself or with your family.  Such an inexpensive fun craft.  It makes an great gift that can last for years.  What memories you will leave behind.   Got flour? If so, be creative and show me what you can do.  I'm always interested in new ideas.

Please feel free to share my cookie s or any  other simple cheap recipe I've posted on my blogs to share.  If you really like this post please check yes on the right of this blog.

Well that's it for now.  Thank you for allowing me to be of service.  Till the next time, many blessings.

Sincerely,

Mary Helen

Sea Shell Angels

Here are a few more ornaments I made using seashells.  No need to explain how too because it is so easy.  All you need is a glue gun, some shells, lace bows etc.  Please be careful using the glue gun.  I burned myself and I was careful.  I just wanted to share with you how easy, and what you can do with just a few things on hand.  So again, Till then, Many Blessings:)

Mary Helen

BASIC COOKIE DOUGH FOR ORNAMENTS

Homemade Cookie Dough Ornaments that are so easy to make with just a few ingredients and a little creativity  I used
cheap acrylic paints and markers.  I used whatever I had on hand.  Bottom skirt was made out of cupcake liners.
You know how much I enjoy cooking.  There is nothing wrong with a good homemade meal, that is so much cheaper and healthier for you.  I feel there is something special when it is homemade.  Not to mention the savings.   So with that in mind, I've been busy baking non edible cookies to decorate my tree.  They also make nice gifts as well.  I thought I'd share how easy and fun it is to make these cute ornaments.  Here is a simple recipe.
Knead dough until it is no longer sticky and is moldable.
Ingredients:
  • Flour 1 1/2 cups
  • Baby powder or cornstarch 2 tablespoons
  • Salt 1 cup
  • Warm water 1/2 cup warm
Instructions:
I used star cookie cutters, and oval shaped Easter egg cutters, as well
and chocolate candy molds.  I painted them with $1.00 acrylic paints
I found at the dollar store.  I used black permanent markers for Santa's
boots, eyes and belt.
  • Preheat oven to 225 F
  • Mix warm water and salt till dissolved
  • Add flour and 1 tablespoon baby powder knead till dough is no longer sticky.  (May need to add more water or flour.)
  • Divide into 4 parts
  • Roll 1/4 of the dough between wax or parchmont paper into approximately 1/4 inch thick.  Freeze for 15 minutes
  • Remove, paper and dust dough with baby powder.
  • Cut using cookie cutters or molds immediately to avoid sticking to cookie cutter.
  • Bake on cookie sheet for 4-5 hours.
  • Cool before handling
Have fun decorating with paints, markers, jewels, clay or ribbon.  So till the next time...Many blessings:)

Sincerely,

Mary Helen
Here I used polymer clay found at a craft store.  I put this on top of the
star cookies and baked it in another oven for 20 minutes.

I got some wire and gave Mrs. Clause glasses:)

I made an angel out of cupcake liners, sprayed her with hairspray, and wired
her with with a gold halo.  I glued her atop the oval cookie.

I gave Santa a beard using polymer clay.  I attached the the clay to the cookie

I dusted a candy mold and put my dough in.  After I baked it, I painted
 it with cheap acrylic paint.

Same thing here...just gave it a different backround, with gold thick glitter.

After painting it yellow, I found tranparent tissue  with words at the dollar store.
I mixed equal parts elmer glue and water to glue to to the cookie.

Here I didn''t paint it, just mixed the Elmers glue, with water and applied the
tissue paper and wrapped the star carefully as the paper is wet.
